According to a piece of news in Mundo Deportivo’s paper edition via Sport Witness, Man City defender Joao Cancelo wants out of the club because he doesn’t consider himself a ‘bench man‘ – prompting some Sky Blues to react on Twitter.
Cancelo has started just eight Premier League games under Pep Guardiola this season, with fellow full-back Kyle Walker seemingly ousting the £60 million signing from a starting place due to a brilliant run of form over 2019/2020.
This has resulted in speculation surrounding the 26-year-old’s future at Eastlands, and this latest report from Mundo Deportivo indicates he does want to leave and find a new club where he is guaranteed playing time.
However, despite there being rumours of a potential swap deal with Barcelona, Cancelo would have to take a pay cut to make the move happen – with City landing Nelson Semedo in the process.

Only City can turn a €60mill player to a bench warmer to a make weight in a deal for a player who’s only worth €30mill at best ! This whole Cancelo experience has been nothing short of farcical!
