Jose Alvarez Haya of El Chiringuito TV, Sergio Aguero is Paris Saint-Germain’s ‘number one’ target. Mauricio Pochettino is keen to sign the Manchester City striker, but it remains to be seen in what capacity.

Aguero is out of contract in July and can agree a pre-contract deal with a foreign club this month, but he could also make the permanent switch before the January transfer window shuts.

The Sun say City are still trying to tie Aguero down to a new deal at the Etihad Stadium, so PSG will be met with some resistance in their pursuit of the 32-year-old.

Aguero has struggled for form and fitness this season. He’s scored two goals in nine appearances, amassing only 260 minutes of playing time, spending most of the campaign sidelined with various injuries.

The Argentine international missed City’s 3-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers (September 21), 5-2 defeat to Leicester City (September 27) and 1-1 draw with Leeds United (October 3) with a knee injury. He missed their 1-0 win over Sheffield United (October 31) and 1-1 draw with Liverpool (November 8) with a hamstring injury. And he missed their 5-0 win over Burnley (November 28), 2-0 win over Fulham (December 5) and 0-0 draw with Manchester United (December 12) with a knee injury.

Pochettino isn’t put off making a move, however, and would like to make the 32-year-old his first signing as PSG manager. Aguero has been called ‘incredible’ by Pep Guardiola and boasts 256 goals and 73 assists in 379 games in his 10 years at City, so he shouldn’t struggle in Ligue 1.
