Yan Couto has an uncertain future at Manchester City this summer – The 20-year-old recently returned from his season-long loan spell from SC Braga but doesn’t appear to have a place in Pep Guardiola’s first-team with Joao Cancelo and Kyle Walker for competition.

Torcedores (h/t Sport Witness) say he’s spoken to City director Txiki Begiristain and requested a permanent departure. Couto has spent the last two seasons out on loan and has no intention to do another in 2022/23. The Brazilian youth international wants to be closer to his family, so a move back to South America could be on the cards.

City signed Couto from Brazilian outfit Coritiba in 2020 – the right-back’s boyhood club. Couto set the Premier League champions back £5.4m and has so far failed to make an appearance, so his future at the Etihad is up in the air despite having three years remaining on his deal.

Guardiola doesn’t appear likely to bring in Couto as a replacement for Cancelo or Walker, so there’s no other option but to leave. The 20-year-old wants an amicable move away from City and hopes to join a side challenging for titles next season.

Torcedores has interest from Fiorentina, Galatasaray, Getafe and LOSC Lille but was offered to Brazil outfit Flamengo, so that might be the best outcome.
