0 shots, 0 chances, 0 dribbles, 0 crosses – Man City player struggled v Man Utd [Opinion]

Manchester City suffered a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday and Phil Foden was one of many players who underperformed at Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old started on the left flank but didn’t justify Pep Guardiola’s decision after failing to create a chance, register a shot on target, whip in an accurate cross or make a successful dribble.

Foden was dropped from City’s starting eleven after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, coming off the bench for their first two Premier League games in December before starting their last two.

He’s not set the place alight, however, with Simon Bajkowski of the Manchester Evening News giving Foden a player rating of 5/10 so might Guardiola be considering swapping him out?

Against United, the 22-year-old played for 56 minutes, had just 15 touches, completed 91.7% of his 12 passes, failed to create a chance, failed to make a tackle, failed to register a shot, failed to make an interception, failed to whip in a cross and failed to make a successful dribble.

It’s little wonder he was hauled off before an hour, so time will tell if he gets the nod again when City face Tottenham Hotspur on January 19.
