£100m transfer fee, £200k-per-week wages, medical completed – Man City close in Jack Grealish

Manchester City are closing in on a move for Jack Grealish and confirmation could be imminent.

Sky Sports say the Premier League champions have agreed a £100m deal with Aston Villa, the Daily Mail say City have agreed to pay the 25-year-old £200k-per-week/£10.4m-a-year in wages and reports suggest Grealish has since completed a medical.

Grealish signed a new deal at Villa in 2020 and had another four years remaining, but his release clause was triggered by City. That left Villa powerless to keep the England international if he was open to a departure.

Grealish returned from his holiday to take part in Villa’s pre-season, but he clearly found City too good to turn down. The Manchester giants have won three Premier League titles in the last four seasons and made the Champions League final in May, so they’re the best club in England and one of the best in Europe.

Villa will receive a British record fee for Grealish and they’ve already prematurely invested in Emiliano Beundia, Leon Bailey and Danny Ings, so they should have a strong enough squad to stay competitive. Man City, however, will now add Grealish to their incredible attack of Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva and Ferran Torres.
