Arijanet Muric could finally be granted an end to his disappointing stay at Manchester City. Sam Lee of The Athletic says the 23-year-old ‘could end up’ following Taylor Harwood-Bellis and CJ Egan-Riley to Burnley this summer.

There have been discussions for weeks over a permanent deal without significant progress being made, but the out-of-favour goalkeeper might be renewing acquatainces with Vincent Kompany if all goes well.

Muric joined City from Grasshopper Club Zurich in 2015 and has gone on to make 24 appearances for the U18s (27 goals conceded, 9 clean sheets), 16 appearances for the U23s (22 goals conceded, 3 clean sheets) and five appearances for the first-team (1 goal conceded, 4 clean sheets).

With stiff competition for a starting place at City, Muric was loaned out to NAC Breda (1 appearance, 1 clean sheet) in 2018, Nottingham Forest (5 appearances, 9 goals conceded, 1 clean sheet) in 2019/20, Girona (6 appearances, 5 goals conceded, 2 clean sheets) in 2020/21, Willem II (14 appearances, 26 goals conceded, 3 clean sheets) in 2021 and finally Demirspor (32 appearances, 38 goals conceded, 10 clean sheets) in 2021/22 without convincing Pep Guardiola that he was ready for the step-up.

But the Kosovan international can forge himself a career if he’s willing to drop down a division. Burnley hope to earn promotion back to the Premier League this season, so Muric could be a top-flight player in less than 12 months if he shines at Turf Moor. Time will tell if he makes the switch.
