3 Things We ‘Didn’t’ Learn Following Donetsk Destruction – Alternative View

|

There was plenty of positives to take on-board during last night’s Etihad Champions League 6-0 Shakhtar Donetsk destruction but what about the three things we ‘didn’t’ learn – the alternative view.

John Stones

We know what a colossus our John (not in stature) and Aymeric Laporte as a pairing have become shoring up City’s defence. And let’s be honest, did either one break into a sweat or looked troubled? Nope, not one bit.

Most will know Mr. Stones can be a clown (in a good way) and so we didn’t learn anything new from this image(!) for performance.

Riyad Mahrez

Turned several opposing defenders inside out and upside down, especially when he tricked Shakhtar’s defence before slotting the ball across the keeper’s path perfectly for David Silva to tap in for City’s first.

It took a while for Riyad to settle into Pep’s team but now look at Mr. Impressive and Mr. Dependable.

Did we learn anything new?

Phil Foden

For reasons are only known to Pep our Phil didn’t even make the squad never mind the bench, and so we’ll never know if he would have made an impression should the 18-year-old had made an appearance.

Blues are chomping at the bit to see Phil make regular starts, but, I have the faith as do many of us in that it is just a matter of time until his moment(s) arrive.
