Having had time to reflect from the very sad news of Sir Bobby Robson’s death I would like to explain how this special man touched the heart of thousands of people.

I’ve been very lucky in meeting Sir Bobby (twice) during my time watching City and as I type this I have a tear in my eye because on both occasions he made me feel like I was the one who was special.
I remember the first time I met Mr Robson – all I wanted to do was talk about him but all he did was turn the question back and ask questions about little old me.
You could tell from the very first moment, even before I spoke to him the type of man he was because he was such a shy gentleman who was more concerned about others rather than himself.
The second time I met Sir Bobby I was lucky enough to see him whilst I was outside the Maine Road entrance just where the players and officials used to walk inside the stadium. He attended a game (can’t remember the opposition now) as a guest and I remember the place stood still just by the pure stature of this shy man.
I’ve never heard anyone say a bad word about Sir Bobby. All of the tributes have and still have me leaving a lump in my throat and a tear in my eyes because don’t mistake it, he will always be thought of as a football legend.
At this time in football, especially with all the rivalry the sport brings I have to take my hat off to all the tributes including Sir Alex (and that will be the last time I call him by that name) because you can tell this has shocked everyone to the core.
I would love to see Sir Bobby remembered by way of a statue erected outside Wembley Stadium where everyone can see how inspirational he was. Surely this wouldn’t be too much to ask?
Can I suggest that we City fans stand arm-in-arm at Barnsley today in a minutes silence and simply remember.
