Academy Graduates Shine For England

With many of England’s superstars injured, the increasing pressure on Steve McClaren was lifted for a few days at least by the efforts of the likes of City’s Micah Richards and his fellow Manchester City Academy graduate Shaun Wright-Phillips who left us for the Chelski revolution.

They give you the impression there is more to come. The likes of Chuckle Neville and LA Milky Way Beckham’s international days may very well be numbered if the two Blues who broke through continue to make the impact they did in the crucial 3-0 win over Israel.

Nobody can deny that Jim Cassell and his hard working Academy team are responsible for City’s continued presence in the Premier League and to see two of their graduates shining for England is cause for great pride and credit to everyone associated with the club.

The hapless McClaren I am sure will be filled with great relief today to know his underachieving superstars have been bolstered by young English players who made the grade thanks to the guidance of Cassell’s increasingly reknowned Academy.
