Ade Knacked As City Striker Crisis Looms

Hard to have even contemplated this a fortnight ago, but City’s striking options are starting to look somewhat thin on the training ground…

Mark Hughes, when recently discussing Roque Santa Cruz’s ongoing rehabiliation from Blackburn knee surgery remarked that City had plenty of strikers to cover his absence.

Well, if Adebayor’s return of a persistent groin problem on Togo international duty is confirmed, then we can certainly rule out that long needed height up front for the Blackburn opener.

City currently have nine forwards on the books. Bojinov, Caicedo and Jo have all gone on season long loans.

Of the remaining six, Bellamy, Robinho and Benjani, himself on a long haul back from a serious thigh injury will be just about the fittest choices Sparky has right now. Tevez will have only trained for one week and Crocky and Ade are out.

In point of fact, most of City’s strikers for the 2009-2010 campaign have fragile injury records.

It will be interesting to see how Sparky approaches this situation now. Did he make one loan out too many?
