Adebayor Sending Out The Wrong Signals

Emmanuel Adebayor has been on the blower to TalkSport. Despite his latest lack of cutting edge performance in The Europa League, the striker expects regular starts…

Let’s face it, all this drivel about it being exclusive to Manchester City that big name players declare unhappiness if they don’t start games regularly is nonsense.

Right across the giants of European football, there have always been superstar millionaires who would rather go elsewhere than be prepared to stand and fight for their places.

It seems Adebayor is no exception from his latest comments:

‘The season is going to be very long and very difficult for myself. I’m a footballer and have to keep going and not give up. I need to keep fighting for myself and enjoying my football. If you’re in a team and you’re not playing, and there is a team that comes in for me, then I will definitely be on my way out because I’m a footballer and I love playing…..so if I don’t have a chance to play here there will be a lot of chance to play somewhere else. If they City force you out then you always have to follow your destiny.’

Choice words indeed and there will be a few rye smiles at Arsenal. Exactly where does he expect to start every single game at this level?

Adebayor, who has hardly set the world alight this year despite repeated opportunities has not done himself any favours here, particularly at a club where he has received superb support through terrible times.

He’s another top player who prefers to talk about himself rather than of a collective team ambition unlike his many of his team mates.

Under Roberto Mancini, negative and very public self serving talk like this tends to see you jettisoned.
