On Saturday Manchester City clinched the signing of Emmanuel Adebayor on a five-year contract.
The Togo international is reported to have made the switch from Arsenal to Eastlands in a £25m deal and joins the likes of Barry, Carlos Tevez and Roque Santa-Cruz in Mark Hughes’ Champions League challenging squad.
‘I am very happy, very pleased to be here,’ said the powerful 25-year-old striker, ‘I signed for Manchester City because I think they are a team that needs players like this.
‘We are here to achieve, we will take it from here and see what we can do. I have to fight for this club now, show that I want to bring trophies to this club.
‘This season I would love for us to be in the top four. We know it is not going to be easy.
‘I want to be part of a club that is aiming to be one of the biggest in the world… The manager and chairman have said that maybe in one or two years Man City could be one of the best teams in the world.
