The 27 year old Dane, who has two years left on his Reds contract, and is a a target for the Premier League Champions Manchester City, who have already had several offers turned down by the Merseyside club. The latest bid is believed to be worth twenty million Pounds. The Catalan giants, meanwhile, have yet to make an offer but should one be made and accepted, Agger has confessed he would favor the move.

The question remains would City be wasting their money on Agger, the formation of a central defensive partnership between himself and Vincent Kompany, many believe Agger will be a considerable improvement on other first-choice option of Joleon Lescott.

The England international has come on in leaps and bounds at the Etihad Stadium, and had a strong second half of the campaign, carrying his form into the European Championships. But, in terms of where City are now, and where they want to go in the future, does Lescott’s ability fall just short?
