An Unsung FA Cup Hero

After City’s dramatic equaliser on Sunday at Villa Park, the spotlight has quite rightly been on young Micah Richards who scored his debut goal deep into stoppage time to earn City a much deserved Cup replay at Eastlands.

However, I haven’t seen much in the way of recognition for the small but immensely crucial contribition of Lee Croft in the move that led up to Micah’s goal.

I think most players would have given up the chase for that ball, but Crofty’s strength, vision and persistence led to us winning that corner against all the odds.

That brief passage of play could turn out to be a defining moment in City’s season if we do, after all these years, manage to make it all the way to Wembley… err I mean Cardiff!

There is first the small matter of the Villa replay followed by a tricky home Quarter Final tie against West Ham or Bolton. Hopefully Liverpool and Chelsea will have been knocked out by the semi-final stage paving the way for us to beat either Charlton or Birmingham in the final 🙂
