Manager Manuel Pellegrini was delighted to see Manchester City put in another strong performance and pick up another win and all three points against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light last night.

Speaking to the Official Site having watched City come from behind and finally take the game four one courtesy of a brace from Aguero and further strikes from Jovetic and Zabaleta, the manager said.

‘We are playing very well and we repeated the same performance as we did against Southampton – we were very strong. I am very happy because I always say it is important to be an attractive, offensive team so the fans can enjoy the game. In the last three games, we have scored ten goals. We are trying to have an important amount of goals every game and it is important to defend well also.’

It was of course the end of a Stadium of Light ‘jinx’ with the win as well – our first on their soil since 2008 and it was a fantastic way to end that run.

With us falling behind, the manager said he wasn’t worried at that stage, but was delighted with how we stepped up and quickly hit back and took charge in our response.

‘I don’t know if it was the response of champions but we had more chances to beat Sunderland in the way we played. It’s better not to be a goal behind but I was sure we were going to win. We didn’t have any panic because the team is working very hard in defence and attack. We were unlucky to concede because Zabaleta tried to clear the ball and it rebounded off him but I think the team is in a good moment.’

Of course Aguero once again drew praise for his showing and his goals, and that’s now 30 goals in his last 33 games which is a phenomenal record at the top flight.

‘I am very happy for Kun because he is working hard. I always say he is too young. He is only 26 years old and I think he can improve every day. He wants to do it and at this moment, it is difficult for defences to stop him. He is playing a very high performance but there are so many years left for him to strengthen.’

As is usual, having praised Aguero, the manager also went on to praise the whole team saying that he feels everybody is now starting to perform to the levels we know they are capable of and we are benefiting from the whole team stepping up their performance levels, going on to reference the improvements of Yaya Toure, Fernaninho and Nasri in particular.

‘The team is coming again in the performance I know we can do. all the players having more trust in what we are doing but we must continue the same way because there is a slight difference between winning and losing.’
