In yet another piece of impeccable timing by the unelected, military government of Thailand, the Thai supreme court has issued an arrest warrant against Thaksin and his wife in relation to corruption charges during his time in office.
With laughable regularity, the Thai authorities seem to be targeting Thaksin whenever his public profile raises.
This latest development comes hot on the heels of City’s victorious season opener and the positive press it has generated.
It would seem that the military junta is afraid of the increased publicity that the ousted ex Prime Minister is getting and therefore we can probably expect similar gimmicks throughout the season.
A spokesman for Thaksin described the arrest warrant as a ‘publicity stunt’.
