Arsenal ‘reach agreement’ with Man City over 25 y/o, fee confirmed and terms pending

Although Gabriel Jesus made more appearances in all competitions than Ruben Dias this season, there were 13 Manchester City players who amassed more minutes across the board than the 25-year-old. Jesus started 21/38 Premier League games and 3/12 Champions League outings, so he missed out on a lot of matches.

And with his deal at the Etihad Stadium being up in 2023 with no extension on the horizon, City have no choice but to cash in and allow him regular playing time elsewhere. Arsenal have lead the race to sign Jesus this summer and Fabrizio Romano revealed on Friday evening that an ‘agreement was reached’ between the two clubs.

The Gunners will pay £45m for the Brazilian international but have yet to agree personal terms. City paid £28.8m for Jesus back in 2017 and had him on a contract worth £90k-per-week/£4.7m-a-year, so they’ve nearly made back the £52.3m spent.

Jesus has made 236 appearances in all competitions for City, scoring 95 goals with 46 assists. The 25-year-old scored 13 goals and had 12 assists from 41 games this campaign but was still deemed expendable. City’s loss will be Arsenal’s gain next season.
