Manuel Pellegrini insists he wants to finish his reign at Manchester City with as many trophies as possible as they look to now focus on the Premier League and Champions League.

#WE-HAVE-IGNITION. Make no mistake about it, City’s 5th trophy win inside 5 years could not have been more crucially timed in the context of our season. Manuel Pellegrini, celebrating his 150th game in charge of The Blues and now his third title, has wrestled with a horrendous season-long key player injury list yet despite recently savage criticism from outside our club has still steered his squad on an upwards trajectory. The Engineer has again answered those critics and will leave many an openly anti-City hack and pundit creast-fallen tonight.

As for the final itself that what was ultimately settled by the brilliant Willy Caballero, it at times had the makings of a titanic clash but factually, City’s profligacy and Liverpool’s petulant lack of focused discipline (which ultimately proved their undoing) meant the game would be settled by penalties…What shone through overall though was City’s experience and professionalism over naivety emphasised by repeat diving…Here is wisdom. City now have their spine reunited, fit and firing. The Champions League? Every step forward is a pressure free bonus from here on. The Premier League? These players love the thrill of the chase and relish hunting clubs down, especially inexperienced ones. We aren’t done yet!
