Manager Manuel Pellegrini’s press interviews immediately after the game against Liverpool today.

A two one defeat to Liverpool, with Edin Dzeko finding us merely a consolation strike on the day left everybody, Pellegrini included, disappointed.

In the interviews the gaffer admits that he felt it was a close game and even though it didn’t go for us, he thought we might have taken something from the showing.

He also talked about how easily we were losing the ball in the game, and with him commenting ahead of the match that we had an un-decisive advantage with the opposition going to extra time in midweek, the game has to go down as one where we didn’t do enough to take victory and it’s potentially a lost opportunity but we have to focus on winning the points that remain this season.

With the formation being discussed and how we were overrun at points in midfield, in a different press interview Pellegrini also denied that the formation was the cause of our defeat because he pointed to how well we were performing in the game at times without us being able to make it count.
