Avram Grant, the former Chelsea manager, is leading the race to be the next manager of Manchester City, according to reports.

Speculation surrounding the future of City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson continues after club owner Thaksin Shinawatra refused to answer whether Sven would remain at the club.

Former prime minister of Thailand told the AFP news service…

‘It’s normal at the end of the season that every Premier League football club will have to do something with the team, by strengthening the team.’

‘Everything is part of strengthening the team, including coach, players and even improving the pitch ourselves.’

Shinawatra is thought to be on the verge of making Avram Grant an offer he cannot refuse following his disastrous (tongue in cheek) eight months in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Vital Manchester City says…

‘He (Toxin) seriously thinks that ‘Mr Personality’ (Grant), who has run Manchester United so close in the Premier and Champions League would be the perfect replacement for Eriksson.’

‘What planet is he on?’
