Ross Barkley is very much one of the ‘in men’ at the moment, in fairness I can see why as he is such a talented footballer, but are reports of a City interest just tabloid talk?
The Mirror today claims that City are ‘considering’ a £25m move for the Everton man as the club look to boost the ‘home-grown quota’, which looks set to drop further with James Milner potentially moving on joining Gareth Barry, Joleon Lescott, Scott Sinclair and probably Micah Richards in leaving this summer.
City could ‘sweeten the pot’ by offering Jack Rodwell in return?
Rodwell’s time with City, since signing from Everton, has been marred by injury and the 23-year-old is another destined to leave the Etihad this summer with Everton one of those linked with an interest in bringing him back.
Everton probably want to pair Rodwell with Barkley and not in place of him mind….
City were one of the few clubs that 20-year-old Rodwell did admit he would consider leaving Everton for in a recent interview, time will tell if he does!
Also in the Mirror today are further reports that Alvaro Negredo will be leaving after just 12-months with the club after what was a mixed debut season.
This still saw him score 15-goals mind but he started the season brilliantly before tailing off. ‘The Beast’ is apparently up for sale for £25m and could join La Liga champions Atletico Madrid.
