Barry Facing Operation

According to the News of the World (and I know they aren’t a very reliable source), Gareth Barry is facing a possible groin operation to get rid of an annoying injury that has hampered his performances over the last month or so. Barry did not play in the 1-1 draw with Hull despite training earlier in the week. He then went on to play the full game against Arsenal and the full game yesterday.

The England midfielder is apparently reluctant about having surgery despite the fact that it could clear the problem in a matter of days. We have plenty of cover in the central midfield area with the likes of de Jong, Ireland, Johnson and Kompany. Therefore, my opinion is that he should have the operation done if it will clear the problem immediately.

Barry put in a brilliant performance yesterday against Chelsea as he slotted in with the outstanding Nigel de Jong. They had Ballack, Essien and Lampard in the their back pockets. Have we ever seen a Chelsea midfield so quiet? Those 2 proved they that are force not to be taken lightly.

Barry is not the only player currently playing through an injury. Yesterday Adebayor, SWP and Tevez were all carrying minor knocks but were picked to play. From what I have heard, Ade is still struggling with an ankle injury as is SWP and Tevez has a pain in his knee. However, when we were up against it yesterday they all put a shift in which was good to see. And that wasn’t a reserve Chelsea side that we beat. They were at full strength.

I suppose it’s the up’s and down’s of being a City fan. We can’t buy a win against the likes of Hull and Burnley then we put 5 past Arsenal and Chelsea in the space of four days. Brilliant.
