England midfielder Gareth Barry has defended his move to Manchester City.

The 28-year old moved to the City of Manchester Stadium last week for £12m, after 12 years at Villa Park. Now established in England’s starting XI, Barry says he was sold on the idea of moving to Manchester after speaking with friends and family, as well as talks with manager Mark Hughes.

Much is expected of City this coming season, with Hughes able to enjoy a lengthy transfer window for the first time backed by significant funds from the club owners. In the past year he’s already signed the likes of Robinho, Shay Given, Nigel de Jong, Vincent Kompany, Craig Bellamy and now Barry.
