Bayern director on Cancelo fee being ‘difficult to imagine’

|

Bayern Munich director Hasan Salihamidzic has been speaking about Joao Cancelo’s loan move and the €70 million option to permanently acquire the 28-year-old’s services after the full-back services after the full-back departed City at the end of the January transfer window.

“We’ve made clear to Joao that this fee is difficult for us to imagine. But if all sides absolutely want a solution, we can manage it”. [via @FabrizioRomano] Bayern will have no intention to pay the €70 million fee and City will find it difficult to get that from any club across Europe. With Cancelo’s desire to depart the club and his disagreements with manager Pep Guardiola, a €70 million fee will almost be impossible for the Premier League champions to acquire from a sale.

The odds of Cancelo returning to City this summer are very slim, although Guardiola stated in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Tottenham Hotspur game this afternoon that he ‘doesn’t know’ who will be at the club. “Now I say that about Joao, it looks like this and everyone says, At the end of the season, every season happens the same, we’re going to talk with many players, happens since I arrive. “Maybe next season we could continue with absolutely all the players. Could be new ones. I don’t know. Ask me about Joao, about myself, nobody knows what is going to happen. Now the transfer window is closed, over.” [via @_joebray]

One thing’s for certain, Cancelo won’t be featuring for the Blues this afternoon and won’t be appearing for Guardiola’s side for the rest of the season.
