When news broke about Riyad Mahrez putting in a transfer request at Leicester City yesterday afternoon and that Manchester City had allegedly put in a bid of around £50m to sign the 26-year-old I have to say I was gobsmacked.
Mahrez has been on Pep Guardiola’s radar for a while now but with Leroy Sane being side-lined for around 4 to 6 weeks then I suppose the news should not have come as a shock.

French football expert Julien Laurens says Aymeric Laporte is the ‘perfect fit for Manchester City’.
Laurens also says Laporte is frustrated at not being capped at international level by France boss Didier Deschamps.
