DaMarcus Beasley, the PSV Eindhoven winger, is determined to stay at Manchester City beyond his present one year loan deal – despite not yet having set foot on a pitch for the Blues.

‘I am here for this season to start with but I would like to stay far longer,’ he said.

‘I have only been at City for a couple of weeks but so far, everything has been great.

‘It seems a really family orientated club. Everyone gets along and ideally, I would like to be here for at least three or four years.’

City fans will naturally praise such sentiment but will undoubtedly want to see their new acquisition in action before deciding whether or not to give him their backing.

A wide, naturally left sided player has been something of a problem position for City in recent times with neither Kiki Musampa nor Albert Riera (themselves both loanees) able to exploit the width of the Eastlands pitch.

With City woefully misfiring up front at present with just one Joey Barton penalty to claim for their efforts, everyone at the club will be hoping that Beasley gets quickly into his stride and provides sufficient chances for the City strikers to fire the Blues up the table.

(Based on your knowledge of Beasley as a player for PSV and the US, do you think he can provide the answer to the club’s left wing conundrum?)
