Man City head to Upton Park on Saturday evening for the latest Premier League game and will, of course, want to win to gain a measure of payback against West Ham on the last trip to Upton Park before the Hammers move on to the Olympic Stadium.

But how will we do it? More to the point how would you do it?

As always VMC is looking for your views and input, with ‘Beat the Clock’ and ‘Be The Manager.’

Firstly, it’s over to fifthcolumnblue with Beat the Clock = West Ham vs MCFC – Click Here.

City head down south this Saturday for a 17:30 kick off at the Boleyn ground. Unless we manage to meet West Ham in one of the later rounds of the FA cup, this will be our final visit to these quaint old surroundings prior to West Ham’s move across the East End to the Olympic Park. (Good luck filling that one lads)

Wet Spam were the team that brought us back to earth with a bump in the early stages of the season. Just when it looked as though MCFC were going to sweep all before them in the premier league, after a blistering unbeaten start, along came Slaven Bilic to blow some bubbles in our faces. Can’t remember it being a particularly one sided game, although I do recall feeling a sense of numb shock that we’d come unstuck, and wondering how on earth they’d actually managed to beat us!

West Ham are having a pretty decent season by anyone’s standards, and currently sit in 6th place in the league, a mere 2 points behind the walking dead of Stretford, and only 4 points behind Champions League wannabe’s Spuds. Not exactly a team stuffed full of household names, but in Dimitri Payet they almost certainly have one of the bargains of the season. Add to that the mercurial talents of Victor ‘can’t find a club that want’s to keep him’ Moses, the lethal-when-fit-but-barely-ever-fit Andy Carroll and an assortment of decent pros, and they look a decent side.

That being said, City’s goal difference currently stands at +22, to West Ham’s +8, so we should be looking to out gun the Hammers and get all 3 points.

Doubts remain over the availability of Aleksander Kolarov, but competition for places in both midfield and defence has increased with the returns of both Mangala and Fernandinho. Wilfried Bony should also be fit enough to take part in this one, and he may be needed against Wet Spam’s muscular defence and midfield. As ever, a great deal of our success will depend on whether Sergio is in the mood and whether one of KDB, Sterling, Yaya or Merlin can feed him more than crumbs.

Spurs and Leicester will both be in action before us this Saturday, whilst Arsenal won’t play until Sunday, so all going well, 3 points at Upton Park could once again see us topping the table, if only for 24 hours. Make it so!

The questions:

Guess the attendance: The 112 year old Boleyn ground holds 35016 according to Wikipedia

Predict the time of the first goal:

Name the first goal scorer:

Predict the correct score line:

As we’re the only game in town on Saturday late afternoon, I’ll confine the bonus to our game.

Two part question:

We are renowned for having bags of possession, and peppering our opponents goal with shots – although of late, not many of them seem to be finding the target!

1) How many shots will MCFC have?
2) How many shots on target will MCFC have?

The scoring will be as follows, and ONLY CORRECT ANSWERS WILL QUALIFY FOR POINTS

Thus, if you get total shots correct, you can have 5 bonus points
Ditto shots on target.

IF, and only IF someone gets both figures absolutely correct, they can have a whopping great 20 bonus points – I’d also be grateful if you could DM me the winning Lottery numbers for the evening!

To recap – one correct answer nets you 5 points, both correct nets you 20. Otherwise, tough luck.

Happy Predicting!

And now it’s the turn of Skoorb with Be The Manager – Wet Spam v City – Click Here.

Wet Spam.

Who will you pick?

Will you return Yaya to the starting XI? Will you keep the energetic Delph or go back to the ever reliable Fernandinho? Has Fernando done enough to retain his place? Two strikers or just one? Stick or twist with Otamendi and Demichelis?

Decisions, decisions……

The rules….

1) 1pt for each correct and a bonus of 5pts for getting it spot on.
2) Name City’s 6 outfield subs – 1pt for each correct and a bonus of 4pts for getting them all.
3) Name the first player to come ON as a sub for City – 3pts for guessing the correct player.
4) Name them all – 5pts
