So much for all the ludicrous shrieking about how Manchester City ‘treat’ their players. Cardiff City striker Craig Bellamy tells it like it is at MCFC…
…as the passionate 31 year old striker started his one year loan in his home town, he had these words to say for his alledgedly evil employers:
‘Manchester City have been brilliant and really made this possible. Nothing’s difficult about this. I had the greatest time at Manchester City, I was brought to take that club on to the next level and I feel I did that.’
Hack fuelled stories have abounded of a demented Bellamy creating mayhem and being banned by The Citizens. Bellamy moved today to clarify the situation in no uncertain terms:
‘I am fine with Roberto Mancini and I hope he does really well. He`’s a top manager and he’s brought in top players and I am sure they are going on to win that title. The players City are signing are incredible. I am sure they will win the title in the next couple of years and I hope they do.’
Bellamy then went on to explain exactly why he has move on to his 9th club in just over a decade:
‘I had to look at the options and I have and that’s why I am here. I am here to be home. I’ve spent the last six years up and down the road. I left home at 15 and I always had the feeling I wanted to come back, but at the top of my game…my family has supported me all my life and I wanted to say thankyou and now they’ll get to see me at home and hopefully at a high level…
I looked at every option, I’m happy, my family’s very, very happy and now I’m on my own door step.’
City CEO Garry Cook had this to say of Bellamy’s time at Manchester City erlier today:
‘I am sure City fans have enjoyed seeing Craig play for City. He has been a great performer for us since joining in January 2009, and I would like to go on record as thanking him for his effort and determination to our cause…it is clear that it was right for Craig to make a move, and Manchester City has the utmost respect for the choice he has made.’
Cook went on to explain for the likes of Harry Redknap why Bellers chose Cardiff over elsewhere:
‘There was a lot of interest in Craig from a number of Premier League clubs, but he indicated that he didn’t want to settle for just another club, but wanted to go to help his hometown team and try to help them win promotion to the top flight. It was an admirable decision, and we wish him and Cardiff City all the very best for his new challenge.’
Cue frustrated kicking of bar stools tonight in the ‘Street of Shame’ as all continues well at Eastlands despite certain hacks worst efforts.
