Big Month Ahead For Stu

In a month that has so far seen a disastrous but predictable defeat against Charlton (who have just sacked Dowie this evening), and a frustrating draw against Newcastle, the rest of the month’s fixtures look really tough and I can’t see where the points ( and goals ) are going to come from.

A tricky game against an in-form Fulham, who always do well at Eastlands is followed by a couple of really nasty looking away games at Villa Park and Anfield.

Traditionally, we always draw at home to Fulham, but on recent form that looks less than certain and unless something extraordinary happens the chances of picking up points against Villa and Liverpool are highly unlikely to put it mildly.

The likelihood therefore is that come the end of the month we’ll have 14 just points from 15 games, which really will begin to set the alarm bells ringing as we rapidly descend towards the relegation places.

We’ve had a poll open on the site for about a week an the results will make uncomfortable reading for Pearce. 58% of you want Pearce to have no more than three games to get it right, whereas the minority of 42% say he should be given to the end of the season.

If as expected we only pick up one more point this months, calls for Pearce to go will be louder and more widespread. What’s for sure is that the next few games will define our season and the omens are not good.

Pearce and his backroom staff will need to sort out the team tactics and selection better than they have so far this season. Lets have hungry and in-form players playing in their proper positions, otherwise we’ll be overwhelmed and humiliated.

Come on City, sort it out !
