Bizarre report from Spain claims Man City player could join Arsenal or Tottenham

Javier Parra Peña of Fichajes claimed that Jack Grealish would look favourably at Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur if he was to leave Manchester City, but it’s hard to see the 27-year-old requesting a departure to join one of the two Premier League clubs after just one season at the Etihad Stadium.

Grealish was rumoured to have told friends that he wanted out of City after a disappointing 13 months, but the England international actually has no intention of leaving. And even if he was to seek an exit, Tottenham and Arsenal don’t have the financial means to sign him.

Arsenal’s record spend is £72m for Nicolas Pepe while Spurs’ record spend is £54m for Tanguy Ndombele, so they’re both some way short from the £100m City spend on Grealish.

Arsenal have two players earning £200k-per-week or more while Tottenham only have one player earning that amount, so both sides wouldn’t break their wage structure on Grealish.

But with the 27-year-old contributing fewer league goals (1 goal, 0 assists) this season than Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus (4 goals, 3 assists), Gabriel Martinelli (3 goals), Buyako Saka (1 goal, 3 assists) and Martin Odegaard (3 goals) why would they make a move?

Tottenham have Harry Kane (6 goals, 1 assist), Heung-min Son (3 goals, 1 assist), Richarlison (2 goals, 2 assists), Dejan Kulusevski (1 goal, 3 assists) and Ivan Perisic (4 assists) outperforming Grealish too, so neither North London club are making a move.

And why would Grealish leave the Premier League champions for their inferior rivals when his contract has five more years to run?
