Carlos Tevez met the world’s media at Eastlands today. As Mark Hughes squad and options grow stronger by each summer week, it’s clear we have a fighter in our ranks…

The kind of battling qualities allied to superb talent that won Tevez universal admiration at the swamp are exactly the forms of tenacity that City have lacked up front for years.

After unfortunately protracted calculations involving buying out murky third party ownership issues, the Argentinian hitman has signed for the Blues for £25 million.

Tevez aimed to set the rag record straight for starters, intriguingly countering some confused statements that have stumbked out of Stretford:

‘Alex never called me or sent any text message. The only time I talked to him was after a Champions League match to discuss a situation about going to play for Argentina. It isn’t the way to treat a player who has been at the club for two years. It seems there wasn’t a line of communication.’

That lot out of the road, attention turned to the future with Manchester City:

‘There is a great feeling of excitement around the club. Look at the quality of the players who have been signed and the prospect of other top-quality players coming, too. Things are happening at this club. The owners made it clear to me that they will be doing everything in their power to make this an extraordinary club to play for. I look forward to being part of that experience.’

‘In every team you have to win the respect of your team-mates. I’m going to fight hard every day to become a regular member of the first team. It’s the environment around me that was important in my decision, money was not a factor.’
