New signing striker Wilfried Bony has laid out the challenge facing Manchester City following our loss to Liverpool at the weekend.

With City five points behind Chelsea now, but having played one more game owing to their FA Cup winning weekend, Bony told the press following the match.

‘We are disappointed, what can I say? We are making it difficult for ourselves now, and if Chelsea keep winning it will be hard for us to get close to them. There are 11 more games, and we have to keep winning our games and hope they drop some points.’

As for the Liverpool game itself, there are parallels now with our season.

‘We gave ourselves too much to do, but now it is the same for the rest of the games – we need to win and hope they slip. It’s a difficult moment for us, but there is still hope. We believe but every game is different and now we just have to take every game step by step and hope.’

Goalkeeper Joe Hart was also in the press following the game, and he said himself – although I think this was a pre match interview that has cycled through late.

‘There are plenty of twists and turns to come. Least weekend (Chelsea v Burnley draw) proved that. We have had results like that too and it’s a damn hard league to win. That’s why we are so proud of the two we’ve won so far and why we want three, four, five. People write you off but we have proved them wrong before and we will do it in the Premier League. We won’t give in, we are here to win and that’s all we want to do.’
