A few days back Belgian defender Dedryck Boyata signed a new deal at Manchester City that will keep him with us until the summer of 2016.

He joined us back in 2007 and has quickly established himself as a player with potential in our youth ranks, playing his part in our FA Youth Cup success in 2008, and then impressing at U21 level in the Elite Development Squad.

He made his senior bow for the club in the FA Cup match against Middlesbrough back in January 2010, and later than month made his league bow.

A series of good performances saw him named Young Player of the Year for 2009-2010, and his rise was very similar at international level for his country, quickly progressing through their U19 and U21 levels, gaining his first full cap aged only 20.

Spells out at Bolton Wanderers and FC Twente saw him return in good shape to start challenging properly for the first team and in 2013-14 he went on to make six appearances for Manuel Pellegrini, four of those coming in the Capital One Cup.

His career stats for City now amount to 20 starts, with a further nine from the bench.
