‘Brilliant’ – Journalists say ‘creative’ Man City man was ‘sensational’ v Newcastle

Manchester City enjoyed a 5-0 win over Newcastle United on Sunday evening and Kevin De Bruyne was one of many players who impressed at the Etihad Stadium.

The 30-year-old was criticised for his performance in midweek as City were eliminated from the Champions League by Real Madrid, but he bounced back well over the weekend.

No player created more chances, no player made more interceptions, no player whipped in more crosses and only one player had more tackles than De Bruyne, so he was unsurprisingly hailed by journalists for his performance.

Jude Summerfield of 90min gave the Belgian international a player rating of 8/10 and said had some ‘nice’ passes. Edward Burnett of City Xtra gave De Bruyne a player rating of 8/10, calling him the ‘most creative’ player on the pitch and ‘sensational’.

Stuart Brennan of the Manchester Evening News opted for a player rating of 9/10 and said he was ‘incredible’ from the kickoff. De Bruyne whipped in two crosses that led to City scoring their second and third goals, making a total of six chances for his teammates while whipping in 11 crosses with 36% accuracy.
