BSkyB has outbid other broadcasters and won five out of the six available packages, meaning the majority of Premier League live TV will appear on Sky TV between 2010 and 2013. The satellite broadcaster paid a total of £1.623bn for the rights.

TV deal
The news is a huge blow to Setanta, which was thought to be keen to win as many as three packages. The Irish TV broadcaster, which currently has the rights to two packages, will air the match at 5.30pm on Saturday after winning the ‘D’ package after paying £159m
The deal takes the total generated from selling the rights to £1.782bn – about 5% more than the current deal.
MOTD
The BBC has retained its contract to show Premier League highlights, therefore Saturday nights Match of the Day, and Sunday’s MOTD2 will not be affected.
