Ecuadorian international Filipe Caicedo is reported to be on his way to Sporting Lisbon on a season-long loan after an agreement was met between Manchester City and the Portuguese club.

Sporting’s official website announced: ‘Sporting Clube de Portugal hereby announces that a pre-agreement has been reached with Manchester City Football Club for the loan of the player Felipe Caicedo for one season.

‘The definitive agreement depends on the undertaking of medical tests.’

Speaking to skysports.com, the powerful striker stated: ‘My objective is to play and to demonstrate that I can triumph in Europe.

‘City have many forwards who have arrived this summer and they have complicated my presence.

‘But to be with a club like Sporting Lisbon is a personal challenge to me.’

Caicedo finished last season with seven goals from just 14 starts and eleven substitute appearances in all competitions.
