Roberto Mancini’s squad tuck into their Chelsea full English breakfasts in Laandaarn Taarn this morning knowing that The Citizens recent record in the capital is a good one…

The Blues have not suffered defeat in London since a 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur in December 2009, only three days before Mark Hughes’ sacking.

Since that harrowing night, City have developed into a big uncompromising side and under Mancio’s guidance have registered
29 clean sheets in 75 league and cup fixtures.

The dandy City gaffer has yet to taste defeat in the capital city in seven day trips, having seen his side concede 5 goals and score 12 across 3 wins and 4 draws:

Sa 27Feb 2010 Chelsea 2 – 4 Man City
Sa 24Apr 2010 Arsenal 0 – 0 Man City
Su 09May 2010 West Ham 1 – 1 Man City
Sa 14Aug 2010 Tottenham 0 – 0 Man City
Su 21Nov 2010 Fulham 1 – 4 Man City
Sa 11Dec 2010 West Ham 1 – 3 Man City
We 05Jan 2011 Arsenal 0 – 0 Man City

Many Blues heading south today will recall only too well the relentless procession of defeats in London that have spanned the last two decades.

It’s a measure of how far the club have come that City fans can stroll along the Kings Road today safe in the knowledge that their team can give anyone a game on their day, certainly in London where for years previous they’ve never stood a chance.
