Chelsea ‘considering move’ for third Man City player, 25 y/o could leave if £50m man joins

Chelsea are in talks with Manchester City to sign Raheem Sterling this summer and have shown an interest in Nathan Ake, but Simon Jones of Mail Online says another City player is on Thomas Tuchel’s radar – Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The 25-year-old has two years remaining on his deal at the Etihad Stadium but has an uncertain future after struggling for playing time under Pep Guardiola this season. City signing Marc Cucurella from Brighton & Hove Albion for £50m would likely see him leave.

Benjamin Mendy’s suspension at the start of the campaign meant Zinchenko was the only remaining left-back at his manager’s disposal, but he found himself behind Joao Cancelo in the pecking order – 28 appearances in all competitions and starting just 10 of 38 Premier League games.

Guardiola preferred a right-back in a makeshift role over Zinchenko, so the writing appears to be on the wall. Sterling appears to be receptive to joining Chelsea, but it remains to be seen if the 25-year-old feels the same way.

Zinchenko can’t endure another season of sporadic appearances, so he might need to move for the sake of his development. But will Chelsea make an official bid?
