Chelsea Manager Slams City Spending

In a bizarre and if anything embarrassing development in the context of Chelsea’s recent history, their latest manager Andre Villas-Boas has allegedly complained about City…

…and it’s the Manchester club’s signing of top players that appears to have upset the London club’s eighth manager in seven years. Following The Citizens capture of the brilliant Sergio Aguero following the two other summer signings of Gale Clichy and Stefan Savic, Villas-Boas said:

‘I think it’s unfair – I think it’s pretty clear that they are building a squad to fight for the title. It’s for Mancini to say what his objectives are but my personal perspective is that they are making good signings and that they can threaten for the league…I think Man United as the title holders will be a reference for everybody but you can see the amount of activity Manchester City have had in the market. It’s pretty clear they have a title objective as well.’

Well, that is sort of the general idea at the Etihad Stadium, so despite Villas-Boas ignorance of what has come to pass before him at Stamford Bridge under it’s oligarch, he’s not far off the mark with City’s title ambitions!
