Manchester City are currently second in the Premier League table with 32 points this season, five points adrift of Arsenal after 14 games. Despite City losing two of their last five in the league and dropping four points on the Gunners, Chris Sutton still believes they will successfully defend their title.
City are the top scorers with 40 goals while Arsenal are second with 33, but Sutton says Erling Haaland could make all the difference as he’s bagged 24 goals with three assists from 19 games across the board this season while Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus hasn’t scored for two months and is injured.
He wrote for the Daily Mail: “I still think Manchester City will win it. Arsenal have lost Jesus. That’s a huge blow. Meanwhile, City striker Erling Haaland has had a lovely month of doing nada.” City lock horns with Leeds United on Wednesday while Arsenal host West Ham, so the table is likely to look the same after Gameweek 15.
Pep Guardiola’s side have yet to play Arsenal and will have to wait until February for their first meeting of the season. They’ll play the return fixture in late-April. But before then, City have a tough run in the top-flight with games against Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur next month.
