Manchester City have released an official statement confirming that England U21 midfielder Michael Johnson is set to return to the treatment room after picking up a serious knee injury.
After recovering from a long term abdominal complaint that threatened his career and forced him out of the squad for around a year, this latest injury comes as a bitter blow for the talented youngster.
Mark Hughes commented on the bad news, saying on the official website: ‘We are all disappointed for Michael, who has worked so hard to get back into first team contention.
‘Unfortunately he might be out for the season but he will receive the best possible care and attention.’
Johnson had only recently returned to action, scoring in the Carling Cup against Championship side, Scunthorpe United.
