Manchester City were held to an extremely frustrating 3 – 3 draw at home to Premier League new-boys. It was another poor performance and another bad result. It brings back the ‘Typical City’ debate. City showed some real guts and determination to get back into the game at 0 – 2 down.

Burnley scored their first goal through a Graham Alexander penalty. It was awarded for a handball from Joleon Lescott. To be fair, it was a brilliant penalty – Mr Shay Given had no chance. Burnley then nabbed a second when Chris Eagles was allowed to run into the box. City almost invited him on! He cut inside and levelled it to Steven Fletcher who tapped the ball home from close range. The Blues then managed to pull one back at the end of the first half when Shaun Wright Phillips cut inside off his wing and blasted a shot goalwards, it took a deflection but flew into the bottom left corner.

City managed to grab and equaliser when Joleon Lescott nodded the ball down to Toure off a Barry corner. He applied a cool finish but he was given a lot of room due to the Burnley players rushing out. City then took the lead when Stephen Ireland slotted the ball to Shaun Wright-Phillips who squared the ball across the edge of the box to Craig Bellamy who was in acres of space – he fired home his fifth goal of the season with a great finish.

Kevin Macdonald, a second half sub then had the last word when he made it 3 – 3. Nugent crossed the ball to the impressive Fletcher who nodded it down to the arriving MacDonald.
