City cheer amidst the gloom

When you read this week that even Psycho has admitted that City’s season is already over (something a lot of us realised a few weeks ago), you know that the club is in a bit of a mess and that most of us are not happy about it.

Having seen a torrent of depressing news articles recently, I thought it was about time we saw a positive statement about how one player’s recent performances ought to inspire his colleagues to knuckle down and begin to put in performances that we, and they themselves, know they are capable of delivering; not just in one game, but consistently over the remainder of the season.

There is no doubt that City have been shocking recently; there are no excuses or escaping from the reality, the performances have just been unacceptable.

However, despite all this, I think one player in particular can hold his shaven head high and look Psycho straight in the eye in the corridors at Eastlands without shame or embarrassment, and that is of course, David James.

Those people who know me are aware that I’ve not been his number one fan over the years, although his City performances are always much better than his international ones.

I don’t mind eating a bit of humble pie here and say, Jamo – you’ve been brilliant!

Hopefully that won’t be the kiss of death on him now for the next game, but if only the other players had shown half his passion and application, perhaps the dark clouds that are hovering over City wouldn’t be there.
