Manchester City defeated the European Champions Barcelona to take home the Joan Gamper Trophy from the Nou Camp tonight after Martin Petrov’s 28th minute goal.

City were playing in front of a massive crowd of 94,123 in a truely memorable win, City’s first trophy of the season.

It is fair to say Barcelona dominated the game from start to finish, but after Petrov’s goal, City held firm at the back with Shay Given producing moments of brilliance to deny the likes of new signing Ibrahimovic after he was introduced in the second-half.

Barcelona have won 13 of the last 14 Joan Gamper prestige matches making the victory a truely remarkable achievement, highlighting the power of Mark Hughes’ new look City and continuing the run of clean-sheets.

The Manchester City faithful were in full voice and would have no-doubt enjoyed the festivities at the pre-game Barceloneta Beach Party.

The party will surely carry on well into the Spanish night.
