As the wackiest week in Manchester City’s history starts to draw to a close, Blues fans all over the world have the chance to reflect on the seismic events which we have all witnessed. The last seven days have seen us go from:

Paupers to Princes

Laughing Stock to Everyone’s Envy

Thai’d Up to Abu Dhabi Dooo!

Signing Craig Bellamy to signing Robinho!

I think I can speak for the majority of us by saying that we are still coming to terms with the way our club has been stood on it’s head (for the better, at last!)

Speaking to many City fans both at Vital MC, and in the big wide world, one thing appears to be split though – our opinions. I think all of City’s supporters can safely agree our club is heading in the right directions. Of that there is little doubt (despite our many detractors!). Most of us seem, however, to fall into two trains of thought:

The Cautiously Confident – the fans who agree that we are on the verge of something special, but have had their hands bitten by City so many times they not expecting miracles overnight (didn’t Francis Lee say we’d win the ‘Cup For Cock-Ups’ every year??.

Expectations are a hopefully a top six finish, a cup run, a decent stint in Europe. Achievements running up to January will determine whom, if anyone, we’ll sign, but big moves on hold until we prove ourselves worthy.

The Jubilant Optimist – the fans who see this as the dawning of a new, glorious era for City. Anticipate a Top four finish this season with a cup win to boot. Big name signings are to flock to the ‘Promised Land’ in January, and world domination to follow in the next 2/3 years. We’ve been down for so long; this is now our turn for greatness!

Both opinions are equally valid. Is neither right or wrong! The important message I wish to stress though is for US, the City fans, to respect one another’s! We will differ in our opinions – it is human nature!

The underlying fact though is that we all want the same thing, and that is for our club to be a success. Already we can sense a division amongst the supporter’s views, mainly as a result of the level of sniping in the press this week (Shame on you City for ruining the English game and trying to by the league!).

Differing opinions are fine, as long as we agree to disagree. After all, varying opinions are what keep Vital MC healthy and active! It would be detrimental all round for it to bubble over – and besides, wouldn’t the detractors love it if we turned on one another?

So let’s stand firm brothers and sisters! Great times are surely ahead, whether it’s in six months or six years. We’ll all be there, standing (Abu Dhabi) United together, and to hell with the rest of the world!

“Our opinions do not really blossom into fruition until we have expressed them to someone else.’ (Mark Twain)
