City travel to Goodison looking for their first away points of the season. Not a tall order some may think, but the blue scouse are unbeaten so far and City have yet to win at Goodison in the Premiership.
After being given some breathing space with a 2-0 win over West Ham last weekend, Stuart Pearce will be looking for his team to push on into the top half of the Premiership with a win over David Moyes’ battlers. Pearce has highlighted Andy Johnson as the danger but on previous form I’d say watch Cahill from set-pieces.
The travelling blues will once more experience the pleasure of the knee crushing seats in the Bullens Road stand, accompanied by crap pies and no beer; here’s hoping the team deliver for a change.
Stuart Pearce hints at a 3 man midfield:
‘We have lost three away games in the league already this season.
‘Now we need to win one and I might have to tinker with the players and the formation to achieve it.
‘This is the first time I have had Ousmane Dabo, Dietmar Hamann and Barton available together in midfield and the significance of that will be evident.’
Everton are without Naysmith, Stubbs and Pistone but should be at full strength in attack and midfield.
Lethal from City’s vulnerable spot.
Dabo returns from suspension and Pearce hints at three in the centre of midfield. The formation may mean Sinclair misses out to Richards but Miller should start on the left. Samaras and Corradi are expected to start up front.
Looked good last week …. finally finding his feet?
City haven’t won at Goodison since the Premiership was formed and have the shocking record of having lost 11 of their last 12 fixtures on the road.
Everton are unbeaten this season and are looking for a win that could take them to the top of the league.
Andre Marriner ….. new one on me
Hard fought draw for City’s first away point of the season ….. 1-1
