Manchester City unfortunately lost to Liverpool following a penalty shoot out at the Yankee Stadium.

We were by far the better team for large parts of the game, but Liverpool equalised late to take the match into a shoot out and some ‘shocking’ penalties mean we will now likely not make the final of the International Champions Cup in Miami this season – unless of course results elsewhere go our way.

Liverpool began brightly, but we soon upped our game and chances followed, although we did enter the half time break deadlocked.

Soon after the restart, second half sub Joe Hart was the busier of the goalkeeper before Jovetic put us in front as he connected with a Navas delivery on 53. Our lead lasted only five minutes though before Liverpool hit back through a Jordan Henderson strike.

Zuculini rattled the woodwork before Jovetic then grabbed his second of the evening after 67.

As the game drew to a close, Liverpool continued to trouble Hart and they got the leveller with five minutes remaining of normal time.

So on to penalties, and uncharacteristic misses from Kolarov, Nasvas and Toure gave them a three one win.
