City Old Boy In Lions Den

Willie Donachie has taken temporary charge at Millwall after Nigel Spackman left the club by ‘mutual consent’ yesterday.

Millwall are currently second bottom in Coca-Cola League One after relegation from the Championship last season and a home defeat by Northampton at the weekend sealed Spackman’s fate.

It’s unlikely that Donachie will be offered the job on a full time basis, but if he can guide the Lions to a few wins, he will have to be given serious consideration.

In his playing days, Donachie was a tough, but skillful defender and was a real crowd favourite at Maine Road – we could do with him now!

Unfortunately for Willie, he’ll always be remembered for that 20 yard precision back pass past ‘keeper Alan Rough in the 1978 Home International against Wales, when Scotland were 1 – 0 up with a couple of minutes to go with the match ended in a farcical 1 – 1 draw as a result.

Good luck Willie – you could always ask Psycho for some advice and guidance on being a manager 😉
