It’s pretty quiet out there on the rumour front. Some old rumours we’ve previously covered are re-surfacing (check the archives for details), most notably Postiga, Graveson and Malbranque , but I’d be surprised if any of those came off. The Quinton Fortune link seems also to have cooled a bit.
However, there have been a few new murmurings:
INCOMING:
Diego Tristan
The 30-year-old Deportivo striker who scored 12 goals in 27 La Liga appearances last season is believed to want a move to the premiership, with City, Bolton and Wigan leading the chase for his services.
If we’re after him, we should have kept Riera for company. Good player, but probably a long shot (no pun intended)
Steve Sidwell
Psycho is after Reading’s highly-rated 24-year-old midfielder who may be available for as little as £2m. Sidwell has just one year left on his current contract and is allegedly unhappy with the new deal Coppell has offered him.
I like the sound of this one, but the fee could be the stumbling block unless the Board start digging into their pockets
Gerermi
The 27 year-old Cameroon international is falling down the Chelsea pecking order and faces another two years as a fringe player, so he might be tempted to leave.
City are apparently trying to see if a loan deal may be possible. Geremi is a quality player but this rumour seems a bit flimsy to me, so I can’t really see this one happening somehow.
OUTGOING:
No more news, but amazingly still a serious lack of big offers coming in for Joey – surprised… I don’t think so !
