City set to make summer bid for £20 million rated left-back

|

With no left-back joining the club in the January transfer window, attention shifts to the summer window and reports today have linked the Blues with Fulham full-back Antonee Robinson who is contracted at Craven Cottage until 2024.

Journalist Joshua Jones/@_joshuajones states City already hold an interest in the American international due to the departure of Joao Cancelo to Bayern Munich. However, the Premier League champions plan to step up their efforts in the summer.

Joining Fulham in 2020, in 46 appearances across two top-flight seasons for the club, Robinson is yet to register a goal involvement. Robinson is a fantastic progressor of the ball, is strong in his duels and comfortable in recycling possession.

AC Milan and their city rivals Inter have also been linked to the American full-back, and with AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez high in demand, with City a potential destination for the Frenchman, Robinson could be an option for the Italian side. With reports also linking City to a potential return for Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell, and the club maintaining their stance on not signing a replacement for Cancelo in January, Robinson may fall down the list in terms of City’s priorities if elite names such as Hernandez and Alphonso Davies become available.

From now until a potential Champions League final on June 10th, City are limited in terms of full-back options Rico Lewis, Kyle Walker, Nathan Ake and Sergio Gomez are City’s only senior options. A summer left-back acquisition is a necessity for the Blues.
